Love Catalogs

Someone once told me that there is only one true currency in this world and that is love.  Everything else is simply a byproduct. For example, if you are making money, it’s likely because someone loves your brand. With Valentine’s Day upon us, I figured what better time to discuss what should be a key ingredient in any direct mail campaign — LOVE.  Here is how to make your customers fall in love with your brand.

Love at First Sight

Do you remember that feeling when you first fell in love? It was serendipity right? You were at the right place at the right time and someone caught your eye? They interacted with you in just the right way? It was the best feeling in the world, right? So, maybe for you it’s not serendipity, but it can be love at first sight! Give your potential buyers something beautiful to look at and send it to them at the right time. You never know, it could be the beginning of a lasting relationship.

Court Your Customer

Okay Shakespeare, you’ve found your prospective buyers and they’ve now seen you (that’s a really nice Spring cover you have by-the-way), so don’t just stand there: woo them! Give them a sonnet, give them something. Don’t you realize this is a crucial time in any young relationship? The last thing you want to do now is act indifferent thus they be wooed by someone else; here’s some advice. Show them that you want them, shower them with gifts, be personal, and make them laugh.

Ask for Commitment

Once you are confident in your courting, then it is time to make promises to your potential customers. You will tell them that you desire nothing more than to make them happy and give them what they need. You will take care of them always and continue to show them love. All they have to do is one little tiny thing, they must commit to you.  They must first become your customer and then you will forever make their lives better with your amazing products.

Never Take Your Loved Ones for Granted

Now that you have your commitment, the last thing you should do is take off running. That is too hard on a relationship. If you disappoint your customer you’re sure to lose them forever at this point. The best thing you can do is follow through with all of the promises that you made. Let them incorporate you in their daily life and share you with all of their friends and family. Don’t assume that they are going to be loyal to you. There are too many other brands out there that could make them happy. The secret is to make them happy before any other brand has a chance to.  That means you must continue to court them. Keep getting to know them. People change; you can’t assume that the needs of you customers will never change. This brings us to our last love category:

Always Listen to Your Customers Needs

Here we are at the last stage. Remember, listening to your loved one is crucial to a healthy long lasting relationship. Make sure you continue to ask them if they are happy. Ask them, what can you do better? What products would they like to see? Continue to offer them amazing customer service long after the purchase has been made. Do these things for your customers and they will love you always and forever. Love is a two way street, so make sure you remove all road blocks.

Love isn’t always easy, I know.  It has its ups and downs. Follow these four tips, and trust me, it will be well worth it in the end. How do I know this? Because I know that love is always worth something. So, don’t just stand there like a bump on a log, go out there, find your customers, and show them some love, Shakespeare!

Mmmmwa. Happy Valentine’s Day.
