Packages on conveyor beltOn May 7, the Postal Regulatory Commission approved the U.S. Postal Service’s 2015 pricing and promotions. After a delay of over a month this spring, the approval was confirmed, and new prices are now in effect.

The USPS indicated a price increase by an average of 1.966% on Standard Mail Product. FSS presort changes after running analysis show an increase of 2.8-3.7%. The FSS will vary with each mailing depending on what pieces fall into the rate structure. Dingley is helping our mailers transition to the new pricing, making sure that shipments scheduled under the old pricing are delivered during this transition period.

As required by the USPS, we have verified and accepted plant-verified drop shipment (PVDS) mailings as follows:

  • Old Prices — PVDS mailings verified and paid for before May 31, 2015, using previous prices, are accepted at destination entry postal facilities through June 14, 2015, when presented using eInduction or eVs processes or with appropriate verification and payment documentation (PS Form 8125 or 8017).
  • New Prices — We will begin processing PVDS mailings under the new pricing beginning June 5, 2015, for deposit at destination entry postal facilities.

The delay prompted questions about the start of this year’s USPS Promotions and Incentive Programs. Fortunately, all the promotions are moving forward as planned, with only one exception: The Advanced and Emerging Technology Promotion was delayed one month. This promotion, one of two that offers particular value to catalog publishers, did kick off June 1, and will run through November 30.

The other promotion of interest to catalogers is the Mail Drives Mobile Engagement promotion, which runs from July 1 through December 31.
